World Hunter Field Target Championships

A Competitor Takes Aim at the world hunter field target championshipThe World Hunter Field Target Championships is the world’s most prestigious airgun HFT competition. The Championship is held annually at the Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair, and attracts airgun shooters from across the globe. At the Championship in 2011, over 300 competitors entered and fourteen different countries were represented. 2012 is looking just as competitive!

The Championship consists of two 30 shot hunter field target courses set to the UKAHFT course format. Each competitor will shoot one course on the Sunday and the other course on the Monday. There will be both morning afternoon shooting sessions.  Competitors who shoot the morning session on the Sunday will be shooting the afternoon session on the Monday, and vice versa. Every competitor’s airgun must be with within the UK legal limit of 12 ft/lbs muzzle energy.

The World Champion will be the shooter with the highest aggregate score over the two days irrespective of class entry. As well as joining the worlds elite group of airgun field target shooters, the World Champion will be rewarded with a magnificent perpetual trophy, sponsored by Countryman Fairs.

The 2012 Championship will again see the International Team event as well as the Manufacturer Team championship.

Manufacturer Team Championship

This championship is available to everyone; there are no set teams. Each team will consist of every shooter who shoots an airgun made by that manufacturer. To allow the smaller manufacturers an equal chance of winning only the top 4 scores from each manufacturer will count. With such a wide variety of rifles used in hunter field target, this is sure to generate a few surprises!

International Team Championship

There will be only one national team per country & each national side will consist of 6 shooters with their best 4 individual scores counting for the team. The make of your airgun is not relevant in this category, but your scores will still count towards the Manufacturer Team Championships. The number of team members has been kept low to encourage international hunter field target teams to attend as they can field a team of 4 and still have a chance of a good score.
