About Clay Shooting – "Have a Go"

Young Clay shooter pauses for instructionsAs the name suggests, "Have-A-Go" clay shooting activities are aimed at complete novice shots. They are a staple activity on the clay shooting line at any quality country fair, and are often the way that people take their first steps in clay shooting.



At each Countryman Fairs event, Doveridge Shotgun Academy offers "Have-A-Go" stands, and offer a basic 15 minute introduction to clay shooting. Don’t worry about loud bangs and bruised shoulders as each stand is staffed by a professional coach to make your first foray into clay shooting an enjoyable one.


It’s no problem if you’re completely new to the sport – that’s what "Have-a-Go" is all about. Everyone wants you to do well, and you’ll receive encouragement every step of the way. You need take nothing with you, as Doveridge Shotgun Academy will provide all necessary equipment. This includes shotguns, clays, cartridges, safety glasses and hearing protection. Different sizes and calibres of shotguns will also be available for you to try.


Relax and don’t worry about clay shooting 'etiquette'. You will receive a safety briefing and an introduction to the sport of clay shooting by an experienced Doveridge Shotgun Academy Instructor before going on to break some clays. The sport of clay shooting is great fun, and we want you to have the very best start to your shooting career.
