English SetterThe Setter – Originating from the words ‘to set’ or ‘to sit’, the setter is a type of gundog traditionally used for the hunting of small game such as quail, pheasant and grouse.

His characteristics mark him out as a natural hunter of birds, adopting a silent and still stance, whilst using air scent to find and set down his quarry. Traditionally the hunter would make his capture with a net and the setter would ‘set’ or crouch in front of the game, to prevent an escape.

Playful and happy, this graceful gundog has boundless amounts of energy and his natural inquisitiveness makes his role for setting down prey ideal.
