Mark Gilchrist cooking at the food festivalCountryman Fairs have been working with the world famous Mark Gilchrist, Head Chef and Director of Game For Everything, to develop the Countryman Fairs Food Festival, which will be present at all their group of game and country fair.

Mark will be demonstrating game preparation and cookery throughout the day and will be complemented by local butchers, cheese manufacturers, bakers and wine merchants. Starting at the Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair this Easter, the all new Countryman Fairs Food Festival offers rural produce from the local area and allows visitors to try before they buy from one of the many cookery demonstrations.

No game and country fair would be complete without fresh game. Bison burgers, venison steaks, homemade rabbit and tomato pasta, handmade sausages, smoked cheeses, game pies, and organically reared locally farmed pork and beef products are all on offer at each Countryman Fairs events.

Countryman Fairs Chief Executive, Ian Harford, comments “In line with our feedback from our group of events in 2007 we decided to introduce the all new Countryman Fairs Food Festival at at every game and country fair in 2008. Our visitors are requesting a more diverse selection of catering and are showing more and more interest for local produce and traditionally reared meat. Since Channel 4's Big Food Fight season people are demanding more and more information about where their food comes from. The Countryman Fairs Food Festival allows visitors the opportunity to speak to the people that rear the meat that is in the products they sell. Importantly most of the suppliers come from within 20 miles of our events, thus the Food Festival promotes and supports the local businesses”

With visitors not only wanting to know what food is made from, but where it comes from and how far it has travelled to each event, the Food Festival at each game and country fair offers all the information any one could possibly need before buying food. What’s more the experts are all on hand to give advice on how best to prepare each of the products purchased.
