2010 Sussex Game and Country Fair crowds enjoy the arrival of summer

Sussex Game and Country Fair Main ArenaEnjoying another record year, and some glorious sunshine, the 2010 Sussex Game and Country Fair arrived at Parham over the weekend of the 16th & 17th June 2010, with visitors in their thousands indulging in a first-class showcase of country life. In its 19th year and with the beautiful Parham Estate as its backdrop, this year’s country show provided a great day out for both sports enthusiasts and families alike.

Along with the weekend’s glorious sunshine, Sussex’s most celebrated country show saw visitors from across the UK head down to watch an array of countryside pursuits and activities. From world-class championship events including the Mitsubishi Motors World Series Clay Shooting and Gundog Championships, to the fantastic feature arenas showcasing a variety of exhibits and demonstrations, the Sussex Game and Country Fair had something for all interests and all ages to get involved in.

This year’s Sussex Game and Country Fair also welcomed the largest ever Sussex Spaniel Gathering. With only 200 Sussex Spaniels recorded in the UK, the gathering, which was organised by the Sussex Spaniel Association (SSA), saw over 70 dogs and their handlers attend the show – the largest selection of this special breed to ever get together in one place. Other highlights of this year’s Sussex Game and Country Fair included a fantastic Steam and Vintage Section with an impressive collection of vehicles and machinery from a bygone era, and probably the finest selection at any country show.

For country sports enthusiasts there were have-a-go opportunities and competitions galore including a full programme of terrier and lurcher field and showing events, the Mitsubishi Motors Clay Shooting Festival, ATEO Sporting Airgun Ranges and a host of gundog scurries and working test. There was simply something for everyone, including those new to country sports.

Countryman Fairs Chief Executive, Ian Harford, expresses his delight at this year’s successful country show “We’re absolutely thrilled with the turnout at The Sussex Game and Country Fair this year. Along with a first-class programme of championship events, we’ve also welcomed a huge variety of feature areas that really do support local interest as well as providing an important showcase of country life, and indeed country living.”

Attracting a wealth of visitors year on year, The Sussex Game and Country Fair is fast becoming the most important country show in the South of England. Renowned for welcoming a wide range of local associations, interest groups and historical societies, this charming country show is also a fantastic weekend treat for families to truly indulge in country life.

The next country show in Countryman Fairs portfolio is the legendary Midland Game Fair in September. The Midland Game Fair is the final event in Countryman Fairs’ 2010 calendar, and the most important country show in the UK for country sports enthusiasts. The Midland Game Fair takes place over 18th & 19th September 2010.
