PLEASE NOTE: THE PONTOON GUNDOG SCURRY WILL NOT BE RUN AT THE HIGHCLERE GAME AND COUNTRY FAIR IN 2010. TWO NEW GUNDOGS SCURRIES HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS TO MAKE THE COMPETITION MORE ACCESSIBLE FOR NEWCOMERS. THANK YOU.

It may not be Vegas, but the stakes are still high. Whether you call it Black Jack or ‘21s’ you’ll need more than lady luck to win in this devilishly tricky gundog scurry. In Pontoon it’s the dog that can collect the highest hand in the shortest time will cash in, and may be on there way to winning the Mitsubishi ASX Crossover worth up to £20,000LP!

As the newest addition to our portfolio of gundog scurries, Pontoon offers handlers something a little bit different. Pontoon aims to test the accuracy and speed of gundog handlers, and tests the discipline of the gundog. As the name suggests, this gundog scurry requires the handler to make the perfect hand of ‘21’ by working the dog around an arena of cards.

Pontoon Gundog Scurry Prizes:

1st Place - £25 cash, Engraved Crystal Goblet & Rosette
2nd Place - £15 cash, Engraved Crystal Goblet & Rosette
3rd Place - £10 cash, Engraved Crystal Goblet & Rosette

Pontoon Gundog Scurry Rules

  1. A suit of cards will be scattered around the arena.
  2. The aim of the game is to collect a total of 21.  You may be able to do it in two cards or who knows a five-card trick might win!
  3. To be the ultimate gambler you need to pick the Ace and either a picture card or the number 10 card to get a Pontoon.
  4. If you decide to edge your bets and go for a five-card trick don’t forget a Pontoon hand is better.  But then it’s a gamble to pick a Pontoon – Are you the Gambler?
  5. Dogs must be sat unrestrained off of the lead.
  6. The dog must stay steady until the steward tells the handler to send the dog.  Any dog that is unsteady and “runs in” will be disqualified.
  7. Any dog that is sent before the steward has told the handler to send the dog will be disqualified.
  8. The clock will be stopped in between each retrieve after each dummy is delivered to hand and placed in the designated container.
  9. The clock will be stopped after five minutes have elapsed.
  10. The dog with the highest hand and the quickest time will be the winner.
  11. If any two dogs have the same score and the same time then both dogs will run off against the clock over the whole course.
  12. Any dog may enter, however prizes will be allocated to Kennel Club recognized gundog breeds only.
  13. Re-entry is permitted
  14. Entries cost £2.50 each or 5 for £10.00
