Brian Brinded

Brian Brinded in the main arena, NetmakingDiscover the secrets behind one of the most skilled forms of field craft in the Highclere Game and Country Fair Main Arena. Master Netsman Brian ‘Brin’ Brinded demonstrates the ancient art of long-netting, as passed down to him by master poacher Obadiah Cole.

Rabbits are one of the most common pests in the UK, causing untold amounts of damage to crops, trees and gardens.  But, fortunately, help is on hand in the form of master netsman Brian Brinded, known to his friends as “Brin”. Long-netting is one of the oldest methods of controlling rabbits, and is considered by many to be the most efficient and humane ways of controlling rabbit populations. We are very pleased to welcome Brin back to the Highclere Game and Country Fair Main Arena to impart his wisdom in is own, inimitable way.

Brin’s display shows the use of long-netting systems, with intrepid toy rabbits putting the nets to good use.  Whether the terriers will co-operate as well is anyone’s guess!  Brin will also be available after the displays to answer your questions and let you try their long netting system for yourself. Brian Brinded performs twice a day in the Highclere Game and Country Fair Main Arena.
