Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair - Premier game and country show in the East Midlands.
The Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair has been in existence for some 25 years. From somewhat humble beginnings, this now prestigious game and country show has evolved over time in line with the changing trends and aspirations of its loyal visitor base. It has enjoyed a number of intimate venues including St Edmunds College, Ware and the Hertfordshire Country Show ground before finding its permanent home at Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire.
Originally this game and country show was one of the “County Fairs” group of events. Countryman Fairs, organisers of the UKs leading group of countryside events, including the World-renowned Midland Game Fair, acquired the Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair in 2004. Previously known as the Gamekeeper and Countryman Fair, the event was renamed to enhance its link with the Northamptonshire Estate.
Following its acquisition, the Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair underwent somewhat of a transformation. A key feature of the “Countryman Fairs formula” involves the development of key activities that visitors expect from a quality game and country show. The usual two ring format i.e. Main Arena and Countryside Arena, was replaced with a multi arena profile offering informative and educational displays alongside traditional family entertainment. The field events including gundog scurries, clay shooting, airgun ranges and fly casting were all elevated from “have a go” status, and championship events were introduced.
One of the most important aspects of any game and country show is its retail section. The Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair offers the same broad selection of retailers as you would expect to find at the Midland Game Fair, only on a slightly smaller scale. Many manufacturers and distributors also use the Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair as an early season showcase to launch their new product ranges for the new season.
The recent introduction of new key feature areas including Airgun Expo, the Kelmarsh Angling Festival, Gamekeepers Row, Gunmakers Row and the Skinners Working Dog Village will ensure that the Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair will continue to be the leading game and country show in Northamptonshire.
The Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair is fast becoming a nationally acclaimed event. Home to some of the the World's leading country sports championships, The Kelmarsh Game and Country Fair is one of the most important events in the country sports calendar.
