The newest string to the Countryman Fairs bow, the Lowther Game and Country Fair over 13th and 14th August 2011 is set to follow in the footsteps of our most successful countryside shows. With lots of attractions, feature arenas and family entertainment all lined up, the Lowther Game and Country Fair will make the perfect day out for the whole family. Here's a little of what makes Lowther and its stunning Cumbrian countryside so special...

When you hear the name 'Cumbria' you immediately think of lakes and mountains, and of forests and fells.  Cumbria is the home of outdoor pursuits and the land of adventure sports and no more is there more fitting a county than to host a celebration of country sports and the Great Outdoors here.

A predominantly rural county, Cumbria is home to the Lake District National Park, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas of the United Kingdom. Cumbria has provided creative inspiration for generations of artists, writers and musicians. Much of the county is mountainous, with the highest point of the county, and indeed of England, being Scafell Pike. Cumbria is also best known for its lakes, and the Lake District is the largest of the UK's National Parks, featuring 16 of its most spectacular inland waters. The Lake District is also home to over 150 peaks, including four over 3,000 feet, including Scafell Pike at 3,206 feet.

Along with this however, Cumbria also has an amazing country sports heritage, and has historically been home to some of the UK's most prestigious and iconic countryside events. In 2011 we are excited to be working with Cumbria’s Lowther Estate to host the Lowther Game and Country Fair and with their proven track record in hosting high quality events, we look forward to creating a true celebration of Cumbria's country heritage.
