Midland Game Fair - Fishing Village

In addition to being Europe’s premier shooting show, the Midland Game Fair also offers a fantastic angling showcase. The Fishing Village has become has become a key part of the Midland Game Fair, and offers anglers of all disciplines the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in angling. The Fishing Village offers a comprehensive selection of retailers, complemented by exceptional have-a-go competitions and expert tuition.

Throughout the day, the action packed Carrilon Angling Arena, co-ordinated by expert fly fisherman Hywel Morgan, offers demonstrations in Game and Coarse fishing. Bob Nudd, Jan Porter, Hywel Morgan and Charles Jardine will all be on hand after each demonstration to offer the advice and guidance to budding angling enthusiasts.

If you find you’re “hooked” by the outstanding arena demonstrations and competition profile, visitors can also gain expert tuition in both game and coarse fishing. You can catch your first fish with the Professional Anglers Association right in the heart of the Midland Game Fair! Record breaking casting specialist Hywel Morgan

Hywell Morgan Giving a demonstrationHywel is the son of welsh fishing guru Moc Morgan, so perhaps it is no surprise that he began fishing at the age of just 2 ½. Having spent his childhood fishing in the rivers Teifi and Ystwyth, Hywel began competing in casting competitions, and by age sixteen he had won the CLA Casting Competitions for three years running.

Legendary match angler Bob Nudd

Bob Nudd at Midland Country FairBob fished 20 consecutive angling championships for England, winning 4 individual and 7 team gold medals. His first England cap was in Switzerland in 1984, his most memorable win was at Holme Pierrepoint England in 1994 in front of 20,000 spectators when Bob won Gold in the individual class and England won gold as a team.

Jan Porter at Midland Country FairA distinctive figure in his camouflage clothing, Jan Porter is a former Norwegian International competitor who is renowned as a match angler. He has captained the Norwegian team in the Freshwater World Championships, and also managed an historic double victory with Trentham AC when the team won the Angling Times Winter League and the Division 1 National title.

Charles Jardine Gives a Fishing DemoCharles Jardine is one of the most well known faces in the fly fishing world, through his many appearances at shows around the UK, and his work as Director of the Countryside Alliance’s Campaign for Angling.

The Professional Anglers Association will provide angling tuition throughout the weekend. Their purpose is to coach you in learning how to fish successfully, or help to improve your angling skills.
