Magnificant Airgun sport at Midland Game Fair
The 26th Midland Game Fair proved a phenomenal success on the 20th and 21st of September. Over 87,000 thousand visitors congregated at Weston Park to celebrate the very best that country life has to offer, including thousands of airgun enthusiasts from across Europe.The European Field Target Championships once again attracted the finest shooters from across Britain and the continent to compete for the prestigious title of European Field Target Champion 2008. Shooters from Russia, Poland, and Portugal joined competitors from all of the home nations at the finest showcase of field target shooting anywhere in the UK. 156 shooters in total shot the taxing course set out by the British Field Target Association, equal with last year’s record entries.
After two days of fierce competition the title of European Field Target Champion was won for the second time by James Osbourne. James only dropped 4 shots on the Saturday, putting the pressure on the rest of the field and by only dropping 1 shot on the Sunday James secured the title posting a score of 96. If James had dropped any more shots runners –up Robert O`Neill, IanTaylor and Lee Hadlington could have snapped it away, each finishing with a score of 95.
Other headline action included Russian shooter Galina Yakushina winning the top continental shooter and finishing joint 18th with a fantastic score of 83. Craig McDonald took home the prize of Top Junior, finishing joint 16th with a score of 87. The British Field Target Association has already confirmed they will be staging the 2009 European Field Target Championship at the Midland Game Fair.
Elsewhere in Airgun Expo the ATEO Junior Airgun Championship came to a thrilling climax with 13 year old Alex Pettitt taking the title. Alex was rewarded for his achievement with a brand new BSA Supersport and scope.
