Taxing course, testing weather, terrific shooting
The Mitsubishi Motors World Series Clay Shooting Championship got underway in true style at the Kelmarsh Country Fair over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. Despite freak weather conditions shooters from across the country flocked to Kelmarsh Hall to compete in the first qualifying round of the championship, and for their chance to win a share of the record £70,000.00 prize fund on offer.
For
2008 the World Series is battled out over a sixty bird sporting course.
The highest gun of the weekend went to 2005 Champion, and Professional
Class shot, Martin Myers with a score of 59, whilst top qualifier for
the Ladies Class went to 2007 Champion Cheryl Hall with a score of 50.
Exceptional shooting from Patrick Dickman, with a score of 53, and Jordan
Gray, with a score of 56, saw them top the Open and Junior Classes respectively.
As class champions, all four were rewarded for their excellence with 1,000
High Velocity Super Competition cartridges manufactured by Lyalvale Express,
and a brand new Webley and Scott 910S shotgun.
At all of the Mitsubishi Motors World Series qualifying rounds in 2008, one qualifier is drawn at random to win a brand new Mitsubishi Colt CZ1 worth £7,499.00 LP. Cheryl Beacham was drawn out by Countryman Fairs Chief Executive, Ian Harford, to win the first of the three Mitsubishi Colt’s on offer this year.
Whilst taking photos on her mobile phone of the car that is soon to be hers, and frantically trying to send them to her daughter Cheryl said “This is the first time I have ever entered the World Series and I’ve won a brand new car. I wanted to enter last year but unfortunately never had the opportunity. I only started clay shooting five years ago, when I got lucky at a corporate do and got highest gun of the day. I can’t honestly believe this”
Two other Colt’s are still up for grabs in the Mitsubishi Motors World Series, one at Highclere Country Fair, and the other at Sussex Country Fair.
