RICHA Premier Gundog League
In 2007 the Richa Premier Gundog League was established to promote excellence in gundog scurry handling and identify the UK’s top gundog scurry handler. The competitions unique format caused a certain degree of controversy, as does the introduction of anything that is truly innovative. Some said the result would be predictable, however Simon Fowler was eventually crowned Richa Premier Gundog League Champion having only entered the competition on the day before the cut off. For his excellence under pressure Simon was rewarded with a brand new Mitsubishi Colt CZ1 worth £7,499.00 LP.
For 2008 The Richa Premier Gundog League and Hart Gundog Scurries will offer gundog enthusiasts another record prize fund across Countryman Fairs 2008 group of events. Over £46,000.00 worth of prizes will be up for grabs throughout the 2008 season, including a brand new Mitsubishi Outlander Equippe worth £19,449.00 LP.
Hart Clothing, Quest Gundog Training Equipment, Richa Working Dog Food and Trans-K9 Dog Transporting Equipment will also be on offer, representing by far the largest prize fund in the gundog world.
Richa Premier Gundog League Format:
For 2008 the Richa Premier Gundog League will take the same format as 2007 and the competition will be fierce for the all new prize package. The Richa Premier Gundog League will once again be run over the award winning Hart Gundog scurries, excluding the Dog & Gun, at all of the Countryman Fairs events in 2008. Handlers in the Open Class only are awarded points for placements in each scurry, on each show day, as follows:
1st place: 10 points
2nd place: 5 points
3rd place: 3 points
Throughout the 2008 show season competitors will accumulate these points, and following each of the Countryman Fairs events a league table will be drawn up showing each handler’s respective position. This league will be available on the Countryman Fairs website and will be published throughout the national sporting press.
The finalists will compete in an action packed knockout tournament in the Richa Working Dog Arena, on Sunday the 21st September at the Midland Game Fair. The exact format for the Grand Final in 2008 will be confirmed shortly before the Midland Game Fair. If 2007 is anything to go by the pressure of a grandstand packed full of spectators cheering each handler on makes for some surprise results. With the largest prize fund in the world on offer and coverage of the competition being received on a truly international scale, the Richa Premier Gundog League is sure to remain the talk of the gundog world.
